The 2003 Llangollen Field Meeting
The field meet venue for 2003 was conducted from the Chainbridge Hotel, Llantysilio, Llangollen, Denbighshire, North Wales.
The meet went well although the weather was not very kind with the rain making things a little difficult for most falconers.
The club attended many new venues this season, with pheasant being the main quarry. Most members wishing to fly and then return to the hotel to discuss their finest flights over a beer or two in the bar.
Although the game room did not seem as full as most three day meets, it soon became clear when the game cards were given back that the meet went relatively well despite the poor weather.
Nick Havenmort won the trophy this year for his falcon stooping and catching a mouse at Arley Hall!! a fate many falconers never admit to!
The AGM was one of the quickest for a long while. Mike Clowes stepped down as Hon.Secretary after many years service to the club, he was made an Honoury Member.
Roger James donated a supurb bronze of a falcon to the club, everyone was 'bullied' by Lee Featherstone to part with their money (most of his as well), it was eventually won by - you guessed it - Lee Featherstone.
As I write this article, I cannot believe so many months have passed and I am in the process of sorting the meeting out for this year. The hotel has been booked - once again the Chainbridge Hotel. The Partridge have been sorted and looks like they will be red legs. We also hope that there will be more Rabbits to fly at next season.
